Gordon Ramsay recently opened up about a memorable encounter with food critics during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show. The celebrity chef recalled accidentally offending actress Joan Collins when she visited his restaurant with a critic who had previously given him a scathing review.
Ramsay explained that he refused service to the critic, which left Collins furious, though he later apologized to her for the incident.
The restaurateur elaborated further in his new Netflix series Being Gordon Ramsay, describing how one critic had a personal vendetta against him. He recounted how the critic arrived with Collins, seemingly confident Ramsay wouldn’t act because of her presence.
Instead, Ramsay asked them to leave after twenty minutes, insisting that no matter who accompanied the critic even someone as glamorous as Joan Collins he wouldn’t tolerate their return.
Ramsay admitted the decision was wrong but said it reflected the pressure of being constantly judged by people he felt lacked expertise.
The documentary, which premiered on February 18, offers a candid look at Ramsay’s life beyond his polished television persona.
Speaking ahead of the release, the father of six explained that he wanted to show viewers a more authentic side of himself, one that wasn’t “sanitized” or staged.
He emphasized that the series captures the real Gordon Ramsay, including moments at home, and provides insight into the challenges and vulnerabilities behind his fiery reputation.
