 World’s Youngest Reigning Monarch , King Oyo, Dies at 34 King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, the traditional ruler of Uganda’s Tooro Kingdom who became the world’s youngest reigning monarch after ascending the throne at three, has died at the age of 34. The monarch reportedly died on Thursday, with the Prime Minister of the Tooro Kingdom, Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki, announcing his death on Friday. The cause of death was not immediately disclosed. However, Ugandan media reports quoted a government minister as saying that King Oyo had been critically ill and was receiving medical treatment in the United States. Reacting to the development, Akiiki described the monarch’s death as a major loss to the royal family and the people of Tooro. He urged members of the kingdom to remain united and calm while mourning the traditional ruler.  INEC MEETS CSOs AND MEDIA ORGANISATIONS: SEEKS SUPPORTS 


INEC is seeking the support of  the Civil Society Organizations and the media For Credible Polls.


This was at separate meetings with members of the Civil Society and media organisations at the first quarterly consultative meeting for 2026.


Timothy Yusuf reports that the INEC's first quarterly consultative meeting of 2026 with civil society organizations focused on preparations for the FCT area council Polls, ekiti and osun governorship elections and the 2027 general election.


Other key areas of are continuous voter registration,  collection of PVCs by eligible voters in the FCT,  political parties registration and bye elections in some state constituencies.


In all , INEC is seeking the support of the Civil Society Organizations to urge the national assembly to finalise all processes towards the  amendment of the electoral act to enable the commission release timetable for the 2027 general election. 


INEC also had a similar consultative meeting with the representatives of media organisations.


The election management body solicited the cooperation of the media towards the conduct of free , fair and credible elections as well as deepening the nation's democracy. 


The last consultative meeting like this with Stakeholders held in the last quarter of 2025.
