Timothy Yusuf reports that the discussion hinges on how early security planning could be critical to preventing avoidable challenges and ensuring peaceful elections at all times.

As the 2027 General Election and other off cycle elections approach, public interest and expectations continue to rise.

To this, INEC chairman Prof Joash Amupitan noted that the Commission had finalised its timetable in line with the law, the scale affirming the complexity of the elections demand early and sustained security engagement.

The Nigeria Police Force as the lead agency for election security in collaboration with other security agencies has already set machineries in place to protect the sanctity of elections at all times.
