Kaduna businessman drags ex fiancee’s father to court, demands dowry refund A businessman, Nasiru Dayyabu, on Wednesday, dragged the father of his ex-fiance, Mallam Sani Direba, to Shari’a Court II sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over N260,000 dowry. The complainant had joined Direba in the suit against two brothers demanding a refund of N250, 000 dowry and N10,000 introduction money he paid to marry his daughter. Represented by his counsel, Mr Sani Sunusi, the complainant told the court that he sent his people from Karaye, Kano State to Kaduna in 2025, to seek for the defendant’s daughter’s hand in marriage. “We paid the dowry and the introduction money (kudin gausuwa) and were waiting for them to set a date for the wedding,” he said. “Unfortunately, the lady’s father called to inform us that they have cancelled the marriage.” The counsel said the complainant had asked for the refund of his money since Sept. 2025 but all the efforts he made proved abortive. Innoson presently has 8,000 direct staff and plans to engage 2,000 additional workers in a new tractor plant at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka- Mr Innocent Chukwuma (Chairman/CEO Innoson group)


The Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer of the car manufacturing company, Innoson Group, Innocent Chukwuma, has said 8,000 direct workers are currently employed nationwide by his company.


Mr Chukwuma disclosed this on Saturday after conducting the management of the Bank of Industry around his vehicle manufacturing factories in Nnewi, Anambra State.


According to him, the company presently has 8,000 direct staff and plans to engage 2,000 additional workers in a new factory.


He assured that the workforce would increase significantly within a short period when expansion projects are completed, and new production lines become fully operational


Mr Chukwuma said his vision was to make youths productive and self-reliant, adding that he is establishing a tractor plant at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.


He said that the tractor plant would improve the availability of tractors for farmers and enhance agricultural productivity across communities in the country.


He attributed his achievements to a long-standing partnership with the Bank of Industry, which he said had supported equipment acquisition for over two decades.


The bank’s Executive Director, Large Enterprises, Omar Shekarau, said Innoson Group started small but had grown into a company Nigerians are proud of.
