Mankge Matolo Anthony was convicted for killing 25-year-old Tebogo Tau and attempting to kill 37-year-old Bruce Mphonyana Makhubedu during a confrontation in Kutullo on 7 September 2024 just after midnight. The two victims were in a romantic relationship when the accused, a former partner of the woman, started a fight, left, then returned with a knife and stabbed both of them.

Tau was declared dead at a local clinic. Makhubedu survived the attack. Police arrested the accused about four hours later after he had also stabbed himself.

The court sentenced him to life imprisonment for murder and 10 years for attempted murder, to run at the same time. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
