 TEAM LAGOS EMERGES TOP AT 23RD NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL SOUTH WEST ELIMINATION Lagos State athletes proved their dominance in the South West by edging out regional competitors and emerging top in the five team events contested at the elimination series qualifier for the 23rd National Sports Festival later this year in Enugu. The elimination series featured team events in volleyball, basketball, football, beach volleyball, and cricket in male and female categories. While the team clinched only the female football ticket by topping their group, they showed dominance in three other sports by winning both the male and female tickets. Team Lagos took first position in the volleyball male and female categories. The male team defeated their counterparts from Ondo in the finals by 25-18, 24-26, 25-20, and 25-20, while the female team defeated Team Oyo by 25-18, 22-25, 28-26, 16-25, and 15-8.  Kiefer Sutherland's case paused as DA orders further investigation into alleged ride-share altercation

The investigation into actor Kiefer Sutherland remains ongoing after his arrest last month on suspicion of making felony criminal threats, and prosecutors have not yet decided whether to file charges, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said Monday. Sutherland had been scheduled to appear in court in Los Angeles, but that appearance was postponed after prosecutors sent the case back to police for additional investigation. Authorities said the review is still active and no final determination has been made.

Sutherland was arrested on Jan. 12 after police responded to a report of an alleged altercation involving a ride-share driver near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles. He was taken into custody and later released after posting $50,000 bond, according to jail records. Law enforcement officials said the driver claimed Sutherland punched him multiple times and attempted to choke him during the confrontation. Police said there were no injuries that required medical treatment, and Sutherland was not arrested on suspicion of assault. The actor has not publicly commented on the incident. Sutherland is best known for his Emmy-winning role as Jack Bauer on the series “24” and for portraying President Thomas Kirkman on “Designated Survivor.” He is the son of the late actors Donald Sutherland and Shirley Douglas.
