NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable. KIEFER SUTHERLAND'S CASE PAUSED AS DA ORDERS FURTHER INVESTIGATION INTO ALLEGED RIDE-SHARE ALTERCATION. (PHOTO).

Kiefer Sutherland's case paused as DA orders further investigation into alleged ride-share altercation

The investigation into actor Kiefer Sutherland remains ongoing after his arrest last month on suspicion of making felony criminal threats, and prosecutors have not yet decided whether to file charges, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said Monday. Sutherland had been scheduled to appear in court in Los Angeles, but that appearance was postponed after prosecutors sent the case back to police for additional investigation. Authorities said the review is still active and no final determination has been made.

Sutherland was arrested on Jan. 12 after police responded to a report of an alleged altercation involving a ride-share driver near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles. He was taken into custody and later released after posting $50,000 bond, according to jail records. Law enforcement officials said the driver claimed Sutherland punched him multiple times and attempted to choke him during the confrontation. Police said there were no injuries that required medical treatment, and Sutherland was not arrested on suspicion of assault. The actor has not publicly commented on the incident. Sutherland is best known for his Emmy-winning role as Jack Bauer on the series “24” and for portraying President Thomas Kirkman on “Designated Survivor.” He is the son of the late actors Donald Sutherland and Shirley Douglas.
