 World’s Youngest Reigning Monarch , King Oyo, Dies at 34 King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, the traditional ruler of Uganda’s Tooro Kingdom who became the world’s youngest reigning monarch after ascending the throne at three, has died at the age of 34. The monarch reportedly died on Thursday, with the Prime Minister of the Tooro Kingdom, Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki, announcing his death on Friday. The cause of death was not immediately disclosed. However, Ugandan media reports quoted a government minister as saying that King Oyo had been critically ill and was receiving medical treatment in the United States. Reacting to the development, Akiiki described the monarch’s death as a major loss to the royal family and the people of Tooro. He urged members of the kingdom to remain united and calm while mourning the traditional ruler.  KOGI GOVT ORDERS IMMEDIATE CLOSURE OF ALL SCHOOLS IN YAGBA WEST 


3rd February, 2026    


The Kogi State Government has ordered the immediate closure of all public and private schools in Yagba West Local Government Area.


The directive, which takes effect from Wednesday, February 4, 2026, was issued through an Executive Order from the Governor’s Office and communicated by the state Ministry of Education.


According to the order, all affected schools are to remain shut until further notice.


The government also issued a stern warning to private school operators, stressing that any school found violating the directive will be sealed without delay.


The development was confirmed by the Yagba West Education Secretary, Mr. Ogunjobi J. Michael, who urged school administrators to comply fully with the directive.


No reason was immediately given for the closure.
