The credibility of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voters’ register has come under intense scrutiny ahead of the 2027 general elections, following revelations by INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan that names of deceased persons remain on the register. Amupitan disclosed that names of voters who died as far back as 15 years ago are still listed, a situation critics say could undermine the integrity of the 2027 polls and lead to significant financial waste through the printing of excess ballot papers and other election logistics. The INEC chairman made the revelation while receiving the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Abisoye Coker-Odusote, and her management team during a courtesy visit in Abuja on Wednesday.  Kogi Youths Donate ₦100 Million for President Tinubu’s APC Nomination Form

Youths from Kogi State have donated the sum of ₦100 million in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as a show of confidence in his leadership and in anticipation of the 2027 general elections.

The donation was formally presented during a visit to the National Headquarters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, with the delegation led by the Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo.

The delegation was received by the National Chairman of the APC, Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, at a brief but symbolic ceremony at the party’s secretariat.

Speaking at the event, Governor Ododo described the donation as a powerful expression of grassroots support for President Tinubu, particularly among young Nigerians.

He noted that the gesture reflects the confidence of Kogi youths in the President’s vision and reform agenda.

“This contribution by our youths clearly demonstrates their belief in President Tinubu’s leadership and their readiness to support him for another term,” Governor Ododo said. “It sends a strong message that the people of Kogi State stand firmly with him.”

In his remarks, the APC National Chairman commended the youths for what he described as a patriotic and voluntary act. He said the donation underscores the growing political consciousness and engagement of young Nigerians, adding that such support is reassuring for the party’s future.

He further remarked that, with this gesture, there would be no need for further donations toward the President’s nomination form.

The ₦100 million donation is earmarked specifically for the purchase of the APC presidential nomination form ahead of the 2027 elections.

Representatives of the Kogi youths explained that the funds were mobilised through community-based contributions and fundraising efforts, driven by widespread enthusiasm for the President’s reforms in infrastructure development, security, and economic growth.

The APC leadership expressed appreciation for the gesture and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to inclusive governance and youth participation in national development.
