Georgia woman charged with murder after allegedly taking abortion pills to end pregnancy A 31-year-old Georgia woman has been charged with murder after police say she took pills to induce an abortion in violation of state law that bans most terminations beyond the earliest weeks of pregnancy. Alexia Moore was taken into custody in Camden County after hospital staff said she had ingested misoprostol, a medication used for abortions, along with the opioid oxycodone. Moore arrived at the hospital on Dec. 30, complaining of abdominal pain. According to police, the fetus survived about an hour after delivery, and Moore allegedly told staff she wanted the baby to die. The arrest warrant says medical staff determined Moore’s pregnancy was between 22 and 24 weeks, placing the fetus near the threshold of viability.  LASG PAYS HOUSING SUBSCRIBERS 23.2M REFUND FOR EGAN-IGANDO HOUSING SCHEME

The Lagos State Government on Tuesday paid over #23 million as a refund to verified subscribers of the Egan Igando Mixed Housing scheme.

This follows the transfer of the housing scheme to the Ministry of Housing and the challenge of unexpected delay in the timeline of the project delivery. Some of the subscribers who had previously made part payments chose to withdraw and opted for a refund.

During the meeting held with verified subscribers at the Ministry after due screening and authentication of claims, the verified subscribers were presented with refund cheques, reaffirming the State Government’s commitment to financial integrity and due process.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engr. Abdulhafis Gbolahan Toriola emphasised that subscribers who completed their payments after the transfer have been duly allocated their respective housing units, underscoring the Government’s resolve to ensure that no citizen is unfairly disadvantaged.

He further expressed profound appreciation to subscribers for their patience, understanding, and cooperation throughout the transition period, describing their conduct as a testament to the enduring partnership between the government and the people of Lagos State.

To guarantee transparency and credibility in the refund process, a comprehensive verification exercise was conducted. The Director of Accounts, Mrs. Yesirat Adewale, confirmed the authenticity and validity of all relevant documentation before the issuance of cheques, ensuring that every refund was processed in strict compliance with established financial regulations.
