 Northwest University Debunks Claim Emir of Kano Sanusi Attended Lecture To Clear Carry-Over Northwest University, Kano, has dismissed a viral claim that the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, attended a lecture at the institution to clear an alleged academic carry-over. The university described the claim as false, baseless and misleading in a disclaimer dated August 10, 2026, issued by its Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Ibrahim, and published on its Facebook page. The institution said it had observed the circulation of a video showing Sanusi after attending a public lecture organised by the International Humanitarian Law Society at the university. According to the university, some social media users subsequently attached captions to the video claiming that the Emir had a carry-over and visited the institution to resolve the alleged academic deficiency.
