When the credits rolled on Angelina Jolie’s latest film, one name stood out for what it no longer included.
Maddox, now 24, was listed simply as Maddox Jolie in the end credits of Couture, the new drama starring his mother.
The film, which premiered in French theaters on Feb. 18, features Angelina, 50, as an American filmmaker who receives a breast cancer diagnosis just as she arrives in France to shoot a video for a Paris fashion show.
Maddox worked behind the scenes as an assistant director on the project. His credit marks a change from a previous film collaboration with his mom.
In 2024’s Maria, where Angelina portrayed opera legend Maria Callas, Maddox was credited as Maddox Jolie-Pitt while serving as a production assistant.
The updated credit is not entirely new. Production notes distributed during the film’s premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025 also listed him as Maddox Jolie.
Angelina shares six children with ex-husband Brad Pitt, 61, including Pax, 22, Zahara, 21, Shiloh, 19, and 17-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. In recent years, several of the siblings have opted to use the surname Jolie publicly.
In May 2024, Vivienne was credited as Vivienne Jolie in the Playbill for The Outsiders, the Broadway musical she helped her mother produce.
Zahara, during a sorority introduction video shared by Essence in August, introduced herself as Zahara Marley Jolie while speaking as a member of the Alpha Kappa Mu Pi chapter at Spelman College.
That same month, it was confirmed that Shiloh, born Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, legally changed her name to Shiloh Jolie shortly after turning 18.
As required under California law, the name change was published in the Los Angeles Times.
Her attorney described it as “an independent and significant decision following painful events.”
It remains unclear whether the other siblings have taken legal steps to formally change their names, though their public credits and introductions reflect a clear preference.
