 Mary Cosby’s Son, Robert Jr., Dies at 23 Following Overdose Investigation


Tragedy has struck the family of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Mary Cosby, as her son, Robert Cosby Jr., has passed away at the age of 23.


Salt Lake City Police confirmed to Page Six that officers were called to a reported overdose on Monday evening, which ultimately became a death investigation. 


A spokesperson for the department confirmed that Robert was found unresponsive at the scene.


Mary Cosby’s representatives were not immediately available for comment.


Robert had recently experienced personal upheaval following the filing for divorce by his estranged wife, Alexiana Smokoff, just months after their secret courthouse wedding in Utah in August 2022. 


Their marriage was highlighted in Season 4 of RHOSLC, revealing the couple had kept the nuptials hidden from Mary.


The Bravo series also explored struggles in Robert and Alexiana’s life, including reported issues with substance use. 


Mary herself addressed aspects of her son’s legal troubles during the Season 6 reunion last summer, recounting emotional moments when she revealed that Robert had been arrested for allegedly violating a restraining order imposed by Alexiana’s family.
