 Sudan urges displaced citizens abroad to return home Sudan has called on all displaced citizens living abroad to return home, as the government steps up efforts to facilitate voluntary repatriation and remove barriers facing returnees. Prime Minister Kamil Idris said his office is committed to easing the return process and ensuring citizens can actively contribute to rebuilding the country, state media SUNA reports. Speaking during a visit to the Ashkeit border crossing in Wadi Halfa, Idris said authorities have taken steps to eliminate illegal levies and ensure that returning citizens are not subjected to additional fees, compulsory charges or arbitrary customs duties. He noted that such practices had previously placed an unnecessary burden on citizens without benefiting the state. META WILL CLOSE STANDALONE MESSENGER WEBSITE. (PHOTO).

 Meta will close standalone Messenger website

Meta is shutting down its standalone Messenger website, effective April 2026. After that date, users who want to send and receive messages on a computer will be redirected to facebook.com/messages. Messaging will still be available through the Facebook website or the Messenger mobile app.

Users without a Facebook account will need to use the Messenger app on mobile to continue conversations. Chat history can be restored using the PIN set when the backup was created, with a reset option available if the PIN is forgotten. This move follows the recent closure of Messenger’s standalone desktop apps for Windows and Mac, and comes as Meta continues consolidating the service to reduce maintenance costs. Messenger originally launched as Facebook Chat in 2008 and became a standalone app in 2011, with its integration into Facebook mobile returning in 2023.

 How Suspected Phone Snatchers Killed Army Lieutenant In Kaduna  An army officer identified as Lieutenant IM Abubakar has reportedly been hacked to death by a gang that specialises in phone snatching and other crimes. The deceased was killed in the Unguwan Sarki area of Kaduna metropolis during the week. A popular counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in Lake Chad, Zagazola Makama disclosed this in a Twitter post. Makama described Abubakar as a talented officer.  He said, “Lt IM Abubakar(Isa) A Young Talented Army Officer Was Killed By Phone Snatchers on His Way Home In Unguwan Sarki, Kaduna. May his soul rest in peace.”
