On 17th October, 2026 at about 1015hrs, four complainants (two males and two females), all of Birshi Gandu, reported at 'E' Division that on the same day, while they were asleep in their compound housing Cozy Resort Hotel, three hoodlums armed with knives and machetes forcefully broke in and dispossessed them of their personal belongings including Samsung Galaxy S22 and S23, Redmi Note 14, iPhones, iPads, a Lenovo laptop, a Samsung tablet, power banks, earpods and other valuables running into millions of Naira, including office ID cards and driver's license.  MOB SETS ALLEGED BIKE SNATCHER ABLAZE IN MAKURDI

Tragedy struck on Sunday night in the Achusa area of Makurdi, Benue State, as a suspected motorcycle snatcher was allegedly burnt to death by an irate mob.


The incident occurred around Baptist Secondary School, Achusa, when the suspect was said to have been caught in the act of attempting to snatch a motorcycle.


Eyewitnesses told Benue Info-pedia that the suspect was apprehended by residents who quickly gathered at the scene. In the heat of the moment, the crowd reportedly descended on him before setting him ablaze.


As at the time of filing this report, the identity of the deceased had not been ascertained.


Police authorities in Benue State were yet to issue an official statement on the incident. However, security agencies have repeatedly warned against jungle justice, urging residents to hand over suspects to law enforcement for proper investigation and prosecution.


The latest incident has reignited concerns over rising cases of mob action in parts of the state.
