 TEAM LAGOS EMERGES TOP AT 23RD NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL SOUTH WEST ELIMINATION Lagos State athletes proved their dominance in the South West by edging out regional competitors and emerging top in the five team events contested at the elimination series qualifier for the 23rd National Sports Festival later this year in Enugu. The elimination series featured team events in volleyball, basketball, football, beach volleyball, and cricket in male and female categories. While the team clinched only the female football ticket by topping their group, they showed dominance in three other sports by winning both the male and female tickets. Team Lagos took first position in the volleyball male and female categories. The male team defeated their counterparts from Ondo in the finals by 25-18, 24-26, 25-20, and 25-20, while the female team defeated Team Oyo by 25-18, 22-25, 28-26, 16-25, and 15-8.  Mother of Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie reported missing in Arizona 

The mother of Savannah Guthrie, co-anchor of NBC’s “TODAY” show, has been reported missing in Arizona, officials confirmed Sunday. Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen Saturday night at her home outside Tucson, and her family reported her missing around noon on Sunday, according to Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos.

Sheriff Nanos said certain aspects of the home scene raised “grave concern,” though he did not provide details. Homicide detectives were called to the scene, a step not typically part of a missing persons investigation, and authorities have not ruled out foul play. Nancy Guthrie is described as 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. She was last seen by her family between 9:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. Saturday. Officials noted she is not in good physical health, though her family reported no cognitive issues. Search efforts include drones, an airplane, a helicopter, volunteers, and search-and-rescue dogs provided by Customs and Border Protection. The Guthrie family confirmed the case and said they are working closely with local law enforcement, asking anyone with information to come forward. Savannah Guthrie has often spoken about her close bond with her mother, praising her selflessness and support in past tributes.
