 DELTA STATE POLICE COMMAND PRESS RELEASE POLICE ARREST TWO SUSPECTED CRIMINALS, RECOVER TWO BERETTA PISTOLS, NINE ROUNDS OF LIVE AMMUNITION, SUSPECTED COCAINE, AND MERCEDES-BENZ SUV The Delta State Police Command has recorded another significant operational success with the arrest of two suspected criminals and the recovery of firearms, live ammunition, suspected cocaine, and other incriminating exhibits during a stop-and-search operation carried out by operatives of the Safer Highway Patrol along the Agbarho–Warri Road on 25 July 2026. The suspects, Omini Ezeri (46) and Chinedum Wagbara (42), both residents of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, were intercepted while travelling in a grey Mercedes-Benz ML SUV with registration number AAA 604 JZ. During preliminary interrogation, a third occupant of the vehicle, God Knows Ifreke, suddenly took to his heels and escaped into a nearby swamp.  Nigerian Army Recovers Locally Fabricated IEDs in Abia Forest During Clearance Operation


Troops of the Nigerian Army's 14 Brigade, Ohafia, have recovered two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during a clearance patrol in Umuchinma Forest, Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State.


The discovery occurred on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at approximately 9:00 a.m., along the Umuchinma pipeline route leading into the forest. According to a statement from the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 14 Brigade, Captain Mazinho Attah, the IEDs were locally fabricated using 5kg gas cylinders packed with nails, water-gel explosives, two detonators, and electrical cables.


The operation was part of intensified security efforts to counter criminal activities linked to the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its affiliated groups, including preparatory actions for the Brigade’s ongoing Operation EASTERN SANITY offensive.


Further searches in the area led to the recovery of four empty cartridge cases and two bags containing additional nails. Troops also dismantled a suspected camp used by criminal elements operating in the forest.


The breakthrough followed credible intelligence from a suspect currently under investigation, who confessed to expertise in explosives fabrication.


Brigade Commander, Brigadier General A.M. Dikko, commended the troops for their professionalism, resilience, and determination in executing the mission. "Further exploitation of the Umuchinma Forest is ongoing," the statement added.
