 A Mother's Day Nightmare in Princeton, Illinois. A 3-year-old boy was struck by gunfire as police burst into a barricaded room, ending a frightening hostage situation. Multiple agencies responded to the Hummingbird Mobile Home Park in Princeton, Illinois, on Sunday, May 10th at 2:42 a.m. The initial call went out as a domestic disturbance but officers discovered much worse.  42-year-old, Anthony Rodriguez, had barricaded himself in a room armed with a knife. Anthony had taken several people as hostages, including Aurora Almanza and her 3-year-old son.  Multiple agencies were on the scene, including the Bureau County Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police and  the Princeton Police Department.  Authorities attempted to negotiate but ultimately rushed the room when they heard screaming coming from inside.  Officials have reported that officers fired shots as they entered the room. NWAFOR ORIZU COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, NSUGBE ANNOUNCE COMPULSORY RETIREMENT OF SIX STAFF MEMBERS WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT. (PHOTO).

 Nwafor Orizu college of Education, Nsugbe Announce compulsory retirement of Six Staff members with immediate effect.


In a memo dated 2nd Feb., released today on the school Facebook page, the governing council of the Nwafor Orizu college of Education has approved the compulsory of their six staff, mandating them to stop work with immediate effect. 


The decision comes after a meeting held by the governing council on the 27th of January 2026, which based on established findings relating to age discrepancies in their official records. Other reasons include consistent underperformance and gross misconduct.


The following persons were affected by the compulsory retirement..

1. Dr Rose N. Umezinwa

2. Dr Veronica C. Okoli

3. Mrs. Obumselu Christiana Ngozi

4. Mr Ojinna Ndubuisi 

5. Adebisi Kunle

6. Dr Bartholomew Sunday.
