A two-year-old Czechoslovakian wolfdog named Nazgul briefly joined the women's cross-country skiing team sprint free qualification race. As the athletes neared the finish line, the enthusiastic pup darted onto the course from nearby, sprinting alongside a couple of skiers for the final stretch and crossing the line himself. The crowd erupted in cheers, creating one of the most joyful highlights of the day.
The dog, who had slipped away from a nearby bed-and-breakfast where he lived, caused no issues during the event. Officials promptly and safely returned him to his owners, who shared that he simply wanted to join in the excitement. Athletes were surprised but found the moment amusing and memorable. Sweden went on to win gold in the competition, but Nazgul's playful appearance quickly became a beloved, heartwarming story that brought smiles to fans everywhere.
