“Our Lives And Future Are Under Threat,” Ehwakya Residents Cry Out As Fresh Attack Leaves One Woman Kidnapped

Residents of Ehwakya village in the Ugom community, Maro Ward, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, have again come under attack following a fresh incident that occurred on Friday, February 7, 2026, leaving the community in fear and distress.

According to sources, the attack occurred at about 5:00 p.m., when armed assailants stormed the village, firing shots indiscriminately and causing panic among residents.

During the incident, the attackers reportedly looted valuables from homes within the community.

Following the attack, it was confirmed that a young woman, estimated to be about 24 years old, was abducted by the attackers.

This latest incident comes barely a month after a previous attack on the same community on January 4, 2026, during which one person was killed and 15 others kidnapped.

While Mrs. Janet John and her nursing baby were reported to have escaped from captivity recently, 13 abducted persons remain in the custody of their captors.

Community leaders disclosed that the kidnappers had previously informed residents that ransom payments were being used to sustain themselves and acquire more weapons, adding that such payments would not prevent further attacks.

The assailants reportedly warned residents to either vacate the community or agree to make peace with them, threatening continued attacks otherwise.

Reacting to the situation, the Chairman of the Ugom Progressive Union, Onnusim Alhaji Ishaya, appealed to government authorities, security agencies, and well-meaning Nigerians for urgent intervention.

He described the community as helpless and overwhelmed, noting that most residents are local farmers with no alternative means of livelihood outside their ancestral land.

“Our lives, our future, and our community are under serious threat on a daily basis,” he said, calling for immediate security assistance to prevent further loss of lives and displacement.
