 Anambra Government Reaffirms Mega City Drive, Demolishes Scores of Illegal Structures By Ruth Orji  The Anambra State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the ongoing regeneration drive and restoration of sanity across the state through enforcement exercises and demolition of illegal structures statewide. The exercise was led by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Barrister Chijioke Ojukwu, on July 8, in line with the Physical Planning Law of Anambra State. Stating that it is no longer business as usual, the commissioner urged residents to take every notice received from the ministry seriously and comply promptly with planning regulations henceforth. He, however, said several eviction notices had been served but were taken with a pinch of salt, adding that demolitions followed because structures defaced the environment or obstructed pedestrian walkways.   Peter Obi, ADC Team Reportedly Escapes Assassination Attempt in Benin, Edo State


The Obidient Movement has raised alarm over an alleged attack on Peter Obi and members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Benin City.


According to a message shares by the Obidient Movement’s Coordinator, Yunusa Tanko, disclosed that armed individuals reportedly trailed Mr. Obi and the ADC delegation from the party’s secretariat as they moved to formally welcome Olumide Akpata into the ADC.


Dr. Tanko said the assailants followed the convoy to the residence of John Odigie-Oyegun, where gunshots were fired at the gate, resulting in the destruction of several vehicles.


He described the incident as resembling an assassination attempt and called for urgent investigation and improved security.
