 CSO/MEDIA REVIEW: HEALTH MINISTER PATE SCORES FG HIGH  ON HEALTH SECTOR REFORMS The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, says civil society organisations play a critical role in strengthening Nigeria’s health system by providing feedback, identifying gaps and helping government translate policies into programmes that improve lives. The CSO/Media-Led Mid-Year Review of Nigeria’s Health Sector Reforms and Policy Dialogue on Monday, Prof. Pate stressed the need for sustained engagement between government, civil society and other stakeholders to achieve better health outcomes. The Minister said the Federal Government, under President Bola Tinubu, recognises that rebuilding the health system after years of underinvestment will take time.  RIVERS MAN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY KILLING WIFE DURING FARM DISPUTE 


Police in Rivers State have arrested a man identified as Mr. Abuchi for allegedly killing his wife in Amaji village, Umuoyoro Community, Omuma Local Government Area.


The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday, February 19, 2026, when the couple went to their farm. Sources said an argument broke out between them, during which Abuchi allegedly used a kitchen knife to attack his wife, a mother of two.


Villagers nearby reportedly rushed to the scene after hearing the woman’s screams. They overpowered and restrained the suspect.


A security source said Abuchi told investigators he “did not know what came over him.” The suspect has been handed over to the Eberi Police Division in Omuma LGA.


Rivers State Police spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrest, adding that the Commissioner of Police has ordered a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served.
