Cristiano Ronaldo has made a significant move into football ownership, acquiring a 25% stake in Spanish second-tier club Almería.
This investment marks a new chapter for the 41-year-old Portuguese icon, who has been based in Saudi Arabia since 2022, playing for Al-Nassr. Ronaldo's CR7 Sports Investments subsidiary completed the deal, making him CO-Owner of the club Almería, currently sitting third in Spain's second division, aims to secure promotion to La Liga under Ronaldo's ownership.
The club has been under Saudi ownership for over six years, with Mohamed Al-Khereiji taking over as owner and president in 2025. Ronaldo expressed his ambition to contribute to football beyond his playing career, stating, "It has been a long-held ambition of mine to contribute to football, beyond just on the pitch" .
Ronaldo, 41, said he aims to support the club’s growth, while the consortium praised his Spanish football experience. Almería is currently third in the league with 15 games remaining.
