 GOVERNMENT OF RIVERS STATE   PRESS STATEMENT  MY DECISION TO WITHDRAW FROM THE RIVERS  STATE  GUBERNATORIAL PRIMARIES  Fellow Rivers People, After deep reflection and extensive consultations with my family, friends, and associates, I have taken the difficult but necessary decision to withdraw from the APC gubernatorial primaries. I do so with a full heart and with a firm commitment to support whoever emerges as the candidate of our great party. Leadership is ultimately about sacrifice. There comes a time when personal ambition must yield to the greater good of the people. Rivers State is bigger than any individual, and at this critical moment, the peace, stability, and unity of our dear state must take precedence over every personal interest.  Ronaldo buys 25% stake in Spanish side Almería


Cristiano Ronaldo has made a significant move into football ownership, acquiring a 25% stake in Spanish second-tier club Almería.

This investment marks a new chapter for the 41-year-old Portuguese icon, who has been based in Saudi Arabia since 2022, playing for Al-Nassr. Ronaldo's CR7 Sports Investments subsidiary completed the deal, making him CO-Owner of the club Almería, currently sitting third in Spain's second division, aims to secure promotion to La Liga under Ronaldo's ownership. 

The club has been under Saudi ownership for over six years, with Mohamed Al-Khereiji taking over as owner and president in 2025. Ronaldo expressed his ambition to contribute to football beyond his playing career, stating, "It has been a long-held ambition of mine to contribute to football, beyond just on the pitch" .


Ronaldo, 41, said he aims to support the club’s growth, while the consortium praised his Spanish football experience. Almería is currently third in the league with 15 games remaining.
