 Texas man arrested with 75 pounds of marijuana in luggage while flying to London, police say A Texas man was arrested at Miami International Airport after authorities found 75 pounds of marijuana in his luggage before he could board a flight to London. Harrison O’Neill Tiernan, 23, from Austin, was charged with cannabis trafficking. He was traveling to Heathrow Airport and had checked two suitcases for his British Airways flight. Inspectors discovered 65 vacuum-sealed packages containing a green, leafy substance later confirmed to be marijuana. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped Tiernan while he attempted to board the flight, and he acknowledged that the bags were his. Authorities noted the inspections were part of broader efforts at the airport due to high outbound narcotics activity. In total, Tiernan was carrying 34.01 kilograms, or 74.98 pounds, of marijuana.  Three white farmers found guilty of brutally killing an innocent black man 


The farmers have been found guilty of murdering Dumisani Phakathi in Mamokgalieskraal after beating him while he collected water.


His body was later hidden in black refuse bags and discovered during a police stop on the R511 near Brits.


The court rejected the accused men’s attempts to blame one another and ruled the State proved the case beyond reasonable doubt.


Jaco Wessels Kemp, Louise Coetzee, and Gert Frederik van der Westhuizen attacked Phakathi at a chicken farm on 16 September 2023. The men were braaing when they saw him walk past the gate to fetch water from a nearby furrow. They assaulted him, dragged him into a storage facility, and continued the attack until he died.


At about 02:00 the next morning, police stopped Kemp and Coetzee on the R511. Officers found Phakathi’s bloodied body hidden under black refuse bags in their bakkie. Van der Westhuizen handed himself to police on 19 September 2023 after investigators linked him to the killing.


All three pleaded not guilty during trial, but the prosecution presented witness evidence that secured convictions. Sentencing is set for 16 March 2026.
