 PRESIDENT TINUBU MOURNS FORMER SUPER EAGLES COACH ADEGBOYE ONIGBINDE President Bola Tinubu has sympathized  with the family and associates of renowned football administrator and former Super Eagles head coach, High Chief Festus Adegboye Onigbinde, aged 88. A statement by Bayo Onanuga Special Adviser to the President,  Information & Strategy,  says Chief Onigbinde passed away on Monday.  It adds, the President extends his condolences to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the National Sports Commission (NSC), professional colleagues and fans of the administrator who distinguished himself as the first indigenous coach of the Super Eagles in 1982.  President Tinubu commends the contributions of the Modakeke high chief to the development of grassroots football and to the strengthening of football administration in Nigeria.  SEVERAL FEARED DEAD IN ROAD CRASH AT TARHEMBE MARKET IN BENUE 




A fatal road traffic accident has reportedly claimed multiple lives along the Tarhembe Market route in Tarka Local Government Area.


The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, February 16, 2026, near a sharp bend shortly after Tarhembe Market. Eyewitnesses say the crash involved a yet-to-be-identified vehicle, with several passengers feared dead at the scene.


Authorities are yet to release an official statement confirming the number of casualties and the cause of the accident. Emergency responders were said to have moved to the scene shortly after the crash.


Residents have been advised to contact family members and loved ones who may have travelled through the Tarka road corridor on Monday morning to confirm their safety.


Meanwhile, community members are again calling attention to the dangerous bend along the Tarka road, which they describe as a recurring accident spot. They are urging the Benue State Government and relevant agencies to take urgent steps to improve safety measures on the stretch.
