Ukraine warns Ghanaians against fighting for Russia

Ukraine’s top diplomat has warned Ghanaians against joining Russian forces in the conflict in Ukraine, saying Moscow is recruiting nationals from African countries to fight on its side.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha hosted his Ghanaian counterpart Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa in Kiev on Wednesday where they discussed strengthening political dialogue and economic cooperation between the two countries, Anadolu Agency reported.

Sybiha described Ghana as a strategic partner in West Africa and said Ukraine was ready to establish a food grain hub in Ghana to support global food stability.

He praised Ghana’s consistent support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, particularly its vote in favour of the UN General Assembly resolution “Support for a Sustainable Peace in Ukraine.”

“We are expanding our partnership in food security, logistics, defense industries, education, and other areas. We look forward to Ghana’s upcoming leadership in the African Union next year and spoke about its priorities,” Sybiha says.
