 Anambra Government Reaffirms Mega City Drive, Demolishes Scores of Illegal Structures By Ruth Orji  The Anambra State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the ongoing regeneration drive and restoration of sanity across the state through enforcement exercises and demolition of illegal structures statewide. The exercise was led by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Barrister Chijioke Ojukwu, on July 8, in line with the Physical Planning Law of Anambra State. Stating that it is no longer business as usual, the commissioner urged residents to take every notice received from the ministry seriously and comply promptly with planning regulations henceforth. He, however, said several eviction notices had been served but were taken with a pinch of salt, adding that demolitions followed because structures defaced the environment or obstructed pedestrian walkways.  122,000 Insurgents Surrendered In 11 Years


The Defence Headquarters says more than 122,000 insurgents have surrendered under Operation HADIN KAI, since the creation of Operation SAFE CORRIDOR in 2015.


The Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja who stated this in a statement adds that troops deployed in the operational theaters conducted a series of successful  clearance operations, and rapid response missions across all theatre of operations.

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI,  maintained pressure on Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province fighters, repelling attacks and targeting their supply chains.


Major General Onoja stress that the outcomes of the operations underscore the commitment of the Armed Forces to sustaining pressure on terrorist and criminal groups across the country.
