A MISSISSIPPI WOMAN WHO WAS FOUND IN A DITCH SUFFERING FROM A DOG ATTACK HAS SADLY, PASSED AWAY. (PHOTO).

 She never stopped fighting.

A Mississippi woman who was found in a ditch suffering from a dog attack has sadly, passed away.

35-year-old LaKesha Newsom was walking along Highway 178 in Holly Spring, Mississippi, on March 3rd, when  she was attacked by dogs.

LaKesha was discovered a short time after the attack and airlifted to Regional One Health in Memphis, Tennessee, where she spent the next three weeks fighting for her life.

LaKesha ultimately had an arm and leg amputated due to the severity of her injuries. However, even these drastic measures weren't enough to save her life as she passed away on Friday, March 27th.

Her family questions some of the injuries, such as two black eyes; thinking there must be more to the story. They also wonder why the dogs responsible have not been put down.

Holly Springs Police Department has made an arrest in connection to the attack.

54-year-old Sandra Harris was arrested on March 25th only two days before LaKesha passed away.

Harris is being charged with aggravated @ssault, specifically, "Manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life."

Sandra Harris remains in custody at the Marshall County Jail.

The incident remains under investigation, and anyone with any information is urged to call the HSPD at 1-662-649-6228.

Lakesha leaves behind three children. Our thoughts are with the family of LaKesha Newsom.
