30-year-old Jaimeer Jones-Walker was pronounced deceased on the scene on the evening of February 6th.
Police in Philadelphia were initially called to a home on the 1100 block of South Peach Street at 11:30 p.m.
Once on scene, officers discovered Jaimeer suffering from a single gunshot wound to the face.
As officers began investigating, an 11-year-old boy who resided at the home had a harrowing tale to tell.
The young boy was forced to take decisive action beyond his years to protect his mother.
According to the boy and his mother, Jaimeer had come to the home earlier in the evening to visit. During the course of the evening, Jaimeer and the mother began arguing. The argument eventually spiraled out of control, and Jaimeer became physical.
The 11-year-old boy became worried for his mother's safety when he saw her being assaulted and retrieved a handgun.
While his mother was being hit, he fired a single round, striking Jaimeer in the face.
When medics arrived on the scene, they pronounced Jaimeer deceased at approximately 12 a.m.
There is no information on whether any charges will be filed in connection to the death of Jaimeer Jones-Walker.
