Senate President Godswill Akpabio has appealed to the people of the South East to sustain peace and prevent their youth from engaging in armed struggle against the Federal Government. Akpabio made the plea on Saturday during the funeral of Sir Albert Ikechukwu Nnamani, former Administrative Secretary of the defunct Oil Mineral Producing Area Development Commission (OMPADEC), held in Ikem, Enugu State. In a statement made available to journalists in Abuja, Akpabio emphasised that development can only thrive in a peaceful atmosphere and urged Ndigbo to properly mentor the younger generation. “For Ndigbo, I want to plead with you to continue to maintain the peace and watch the youth of today.  Anambra Governor Soludo Appoints First Female SSG, Chiamaka Nnake, in Historic Move


Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo has approved the appointment of Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake as the new Secretary to the Government of Anambra State (SSG), making her the first woman to hold the position in the state’s history.


The announcement was made on Monday, March 23, 2026, in a statement issued by the Governor’s Press Secretary, Christian Aburime.


Nnake, aged 39, succeeds the immediate past SSG and brings a wealth of experience in finance, economic planning, and public sector management. She is a native of Nawfia in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.


Until her appointment, Mrs. Nnake served as Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, where she played a pivotal role in mobilizing, planning, and allocating state resources to accelerate socio-economic development. She also chaired Solution Fun City Limited.


A seasoned professional, Nnake holds an MBA and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA). She has over 13 years of experience spanning finance, strategy development, and economic planning.


During her tenure as Commissioner, she led key reforms as the state’s Reform Champion for Ease of Doing Business and served as the focal point for Social Investment Programmes. She has held leadership positions on several state boards and agencies, including the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA), the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service Board, and the Small Business Agency.


Nnake currently chairs the Nigeria chapter of the Human Capital Opportunities for Prosperity and Equity (HOPE) Programme, further underscoring her commitment to inclusive growth and human capital development.


Before joining the Soludo administration, she was a Senior Strategy Consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Nigeria, where she led more than 30 high-impact client engagements across financial services, government, public sector, and agriculture sectors in both local and international markets.
