Operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the Anambra State Police Command, on 18th March 2026, successfully arraigned two suspects in connection with the murder of one Ikechukwu Simon Nwite and the subsequent theft of his funds.

The prime suspect, Chiemerie Anieke ‘M’, aged 21, allegedly used a pestle to strike his employer, Mr. Ikechukwu Nwite, on the head, resulting in his death. The suspect was also linked to an attack on one Ogechukwu Nwite at Fegge, Onitsha.

He was arraigned before the High Court, Onitsha, alongside one Godwin Nnabuike Nwokporo ‘M’, aged 21 years, who allegedly aided the commission of the crime by providing a bank account through which over Eight Million Naira (#8,000,000) belonging to the deceased was fraudulently transferred.

The Operatives of the Command recovered the sum of Six Million Naira (#6,000,000) from the suspects, being part of the stolen funds, which has been tendered as exhibit in the ongoing court proceedings.

The suspects have since been remanded at the Correctional Centre pending further proceedings in the matter.
