Al Qaeda-linked insurgents establish check points around capital, call on Malians to rise up Al Qaeda-linked insurgents have called on Malians to ‌rise up against the military-led government and transition to Sharia law, as multiple security sources said the group had set up checkpoints around the capital and seized a northern town.  Beaming David Beckham jets to Paris to watch son Cruz's latest gig after missing out on LA reunion with eldest child Brooklyn

It was a proud dad moment under the Paris lights as David Beckham turned up to cheer on his son, Cruz Beckham, during a live performance in the French capital.

The 50-year-old made the trip to support Cruz, 21, and his band, The Breakers, as their UK and European tour rolled into Paris. The energy inside the venue at POPUP! carried into the night, with David spotted leaving in high spirits, clearly pleased with what he had just witnessed. Cruz followed shortly after, fresh off the stage.

This was not the first time David had watched his son perform live. He had earlier attended a show in Manchester, but this Paris stop felt just as important, another chance to show up, front and center.

Cruz was not short of support. His girlfriend, Jackie Apostel, and cousin Libby Adams were also in the crowd, adding to the family presence on the night.

On stage, Cruz leaned into his evolving style, pairing a vintage Yves Saint Laurent checked shirt with black trousers and loafers. Off stage, his music is beginning to stir conversation.

His upcoming single, Loneliest Boy, has already sparked chatter among fans, many reading deeper meaning into its lyrics. Lines about “breaking mama’s heart” and pushing loved ones away have led some to link the track to the reported distance between the Beckham family and eldest son Brooklyn Beckham.

The song, still unreleased, carries an emotional edge, with verses that seem to wrestle with isolation and strained connections. Whether personal or purely creative, it is clear the track has struck a chord even before its official drop.

Meanwhile, Cruz’s music journey is gaining real momentum. His debut headline show at The Courtyard Theatre in London sold out within minutes, setting the tone for a wider tour that has already touched cities like Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow, and Manchester.

Next stops include Amsterdam and Berlin, before wrapping up with three nights back in London, a full circle moment for the young performer.
