 Child abuse: Lagos Govt rescues 11-year-old boy tortured by his biological mother The Lagos State Government has rescued an 11-year-old boy who was tortured by his biological mother.  According to a statement issued by the Lagos State Bureau of Public Defender (BPD) on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, the child suffered repeated physical abuse involving electric cables and other harmful objects, leaving him with multiple injuries. Upon receiving a report about the abuse, the Bureau reported the case to the police.  Following an investigation by the Nigeria Police Force at the Igbogbo Division, the mother was arrested and charged to court. “The Bureau of Public Defender (BPD) received a case involving an 11-year-old minor (name withheld) who was subjected to severe physical abuse by his biological mother,” the statement read. “The abuse reportedly involved the repeated use of electric cables and other harmful objects, resulting in multiple injuries of varying degrees. “The Bure...

 BENUE DEPUTY GOVERNOR SYMPATHISES WITH VICTIMS OF WEDNESDAY AUTO CRASH 


The Deputy Governor of Benue State, Sam Ode,  has expressed deep sorrow over the unfortunate road accident that occurred on Wednesday along  Makurdi–Lafia road involving members of the All Progressives Congress (APC)  on their way to Lafia,  Nasarawa State, for the North-Central Zonal Convention of the party.


A statement by the Deputy Chief Press to the Deputy Governor, Ior Ikyereve indicates that the tragic incident has brought immense grief not only to their families but also to the party and the entire State. 


It describes the development as "heartbreaking", noting that the victims were committed party members who were on a journey to participate in an important party activity.


The Deputy Governor extends his heartfelt condolences to the victims, their families, the leadership and members of the APC in Ogbadibo Local Government Area and all those affected by the tragic incident", he stated. 


The statement further commiserates with those who sustained injuries in the accident and wished them a speedy and full recovery. He called on road users to exercise caution and adhere strictly to traffic regulations, especially during long-distance travels.


The Deputy Governor assures that the Government of Benue State stands in solidarity with them, their families and all party members at this difficult time.
