 34,000 APPLICANTS SEEK 1,000 POLICE JOBS IN BENUE  No fewer than 34,000 applicants are competing for just 1,000 police recruitment slots in Benue State, highlighting the growing unemployment crisis, the police have said. The disclosure was made on Thursday by the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Musa Abdulraham, during a lecture at the Police Officers’ Mess in Makurdi. The event formed part of activities marking the 2026 Police Week. Speaking on “Prevention of Electoral Violence and Ballot Box Snatching,” Abdulraham linked youth unemployment to rising cases of electoral violence. He noted that thousands of jobless youths are often exploited by politicians to disrupt elections. Board Inducts Newly Recruited Junior Staff to Strengthen Workforce


 The Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board (FGSHLB) has successfully inducted a new batch of junior staff into its workforce as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional capacity and improve service delivery to federal public servants.


The induction ceremony, held today at the Board’s headquarters in Abuja, welcomed the newly recruited officers and introduced them to the core values, operational structure, and strategic objectives of the organization. 


The programme also provided an overview of the Board’s mandate of facilitating access to affordable housing loans for federal public servants across the country.


In her opening remarks, Hajiya Salamatu Ladi Ahmed, the Executive Secretary,  Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board, congratulated the recruits on their successful appointment and encouraged them to demonstrate professionalism, loyalty, integrity, and dedication in the discharge of their duties. 

She emphasized that the Board remains committed to building a motivated workforce capable of advancing the Federal Government’s housing initiatives for its employees.


“The induction programme is designed to equip our new staff with the knowledge and orientation necessary to effectively contribute to the realization of the Board’s mandate, and we expect every member of staff to uphold the highest standards of service, accountability, and teamwork.” she said.


The programme featured presentations from heads of departments and senior management staff, who provided insights into the Board’s operations, policies, and expectations for employees. Sessions also covered overview on FCSSIP 25, ethics in public service, workplace conduct, enlightenment on Union matters, digitalization in Federal Civil Service, and Finance & Accounts .


The newly inducted staff expressed appreciation for the opportunity to join the Board and pledged to contribute meaningfully to its mission of improving access to housing finance for federal government workers.


The Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board remains committed to enhancing its human capital development as part of its broader strategy to improve service delivery and support the housing needs of federal public servants.
