 Set designer Mary Kate Golding found dead in Queens home as police investigate possible murder-suicide Police are investigating the deaths of television set designer Mary Kate Golding and her husband after the 34-year-old was found fatally stabbed inside her Queens home. According to the New York Police Department, officers responded shortly after midnight on Tuesday, July 21, to a residence in Astoria, where they found Golding with a fatal stab wound to her back. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Several hours later, at about 6:39 a.m., officers responded to a separate 911 call reporting an unconscious person near Astoria Park South and Shore Boulevard. Police found an unresponsive man in the park, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. An NYPD source identified the man as Joseph Azzaretto, Golding's husband.  Canadian tourist arrested for allegedly stealing and harming flamingo in Las Vegas 


 A Canadian tourist was arrested in Las Vegas on Tuesday after allegedly stealing and injuring a flamingo at a hotel on the Strip. Mitchell Fairbarn, 33, from Ontario, faces four counts of torturing, maiming, or killing an animal kept for companionship or pleasure.

Authorities say Fairbarn broke into the flamingo habitat at the Flamingo hotel around 5 a.m., where security footage shows him grabbing a bird named Peachy and injuring others in the process. Police found a hotel room containing a large bloody feather and other evidence of the incident. Fairbarn told police he “popped” the flamingo’s wing back into place, claiming he had experience with birds from growing up on a farm. He was taken to the Clark County Detention Center with bail set at $12,000. The injured animals are now recovering under veterinary care. The Flamingo hotel, operated by Caesars Entertainment, houses Chilean flamingos, various exotic waterfowl, sturgeon, koi, albino catfish, turtles, and local songbirds.
