 Ann-Margret, 84, reveals ongoing pain of losing husband of 50 years: 'I miss the laughter' Ann-Margret, now 84, has spoken lovingly about her late husband Roger Smith, nearly nine years after his passing.  Despite her six-decade career in Hollywood with iconic roles in Bye Bye Birdie, Viva Las Vegas, and Carnal Knowledge, she considers her greatest achievement to be her 50-year marriage.  As she approaches her 85th birthday, she says Smith “meant everything” to her, describing their time together as joyful and full of laughter. She admits that what she misses most is his humor and the way he cared for her.  Cher Sparks Wedding Buzz With Diamond Ring at Son Chaz Bono’s Wedding


All eyes were meant to be on the bride and groom, but Cher managed to spark a fresh round of curiosity the moment she walked into the room.


The music icon attended her son’s wedding at the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on Monday, where Chaz Bono married his longtime partner Shara Blue Mathes. 


While the ceremony itself was a joyful family affair, the 79 year old star’s jewelry quickly became a talking point.


Cher was seen wearing a striking diamond ring alongside a band on her ring finger, setting off speculation that she may have quietly tied the knot with her partner, Alexander “AE” Edwards. 


Representatives for both Cher and Edwards did not immediately respond to questions about the ring.


Despite the buzz, sources say the couple are not engaged.


Jewelry aside, Cher kept her look relaxed for the occasion. She arrived in a star patterned sweatsuit paired with sneakers, an outfit that reflected comfort rather than red carpet glamour. 


Inside one of the hotel’s ballrooms, she watched as Bono and Mathes exchanged vows, marking a new chapter for the couple who have been together since 2017.


Cher and Edwards first went public with their relationship in 2022. The pair have repeatedly addressed the 40 year age difference between them, often brushing aside criticism. The singer has also spoken fondly about Edwards’ young son, Slash, whom he shares with Amber Rose.


During a January appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast, Cher joked about the unexpected way her life unfolded. “Before I met him, I walked around my house saying, ‘I want a man and a toddler,’” she shared, referring to Edwards and his six year old son.


Rumors about a possible wedding between Cher and Edwards have surfaced before. In December 2025, reports suggested the couple might be planning to marry, but a spokesperson for the singer quickly dismissed the claim, saying there were “absolutely no plans for a wedding.”


Still, talk of engagement has followed the couple since early in their relationship. In 2022, Cher posted a photo of a large diamond ring that Edwards gave her for Christmas, calling it the “best Christmas gift.” 


She later explained why she wore it on a different finger.


“He said to me, ‘You’re the right girl, it’s the right ring, for the right finger,’” she recalled during a 2023 interview with Access Hollywood.
