 Sangamon County residents are demanding answers pertaining to a Springfield Illinois officer allegedly allowing a lost and elderly couple to drive away even though the couple "didn't know their names or who they were." The couple also had "no clue where they were or why they were there".  This incident had a high probability of ending badly if Good Samaritans hadn't intervened.   A very distressed and elderly couple went to a local business last night expressing they were lost. The female was crying and told employees that she didn't know who they were or where they were. She said she didn't know where they lived. She stated they were lost and they didn't know where they needed to be.  The couple did arrive in a vehicle, with the distraught woman driving.  The manager of the business, Cindy Lyn, and the employees of the business, were understandably very worried about the elderly couple.  COAS CHARGES TROOPS TO SUSTAIN AGGRESSIVE OPERATIONS AGAINST TERRORISTS 


The Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has charged troops of Operation HADIN KAI  to remain vigilant and sustain aggressive operations in the ongoing clearance of the remnant elements of terrorists in the North East region.


This was  during an operational assessment visit to the Headquarters Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI in Maiduguri, aimed at assessing the security situation in the theatre.


The COAS emphasised the importance of effective coordination among units, robust intelligence gathering and improved operational posture to consolidate the successes already recorded and  directed troops to maintain sustained operational aggressiveness in order to deny terrorists freedom of action, particularly during the last phase of the Ramadan period and beyond.


The Theatre Commander  of the Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, delivered a comprehensive operational brief to the COAS on recent operational activities, achievements and prevailing challenges within the theatre.


The Theatre Commander assured the COAS of the troops’ continued professionalism, utmost commitment and patriotism in the ongoing efforts to restore lasting peace and security in the North East and also affirmed that the troops remain resolute and undeterred by isolated setbacks in some locations, noting that the morale and fighting efficiency of personnel remain high.
