 NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable.  CP ORUTUGU NOTES THAT POLICE ACTION ON VIRAL COMPLAINT VIDEO AGAINST UNPROFESSIONAL CONDUCT OF OFFICERS IN ONITSHA WILL BE HOLISTIC; SUPERVISING OFFICERS TO BE QUERIED

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD, has stated that the Police response to the viral complaint video alleging unprofessional conduct of officers in Onitsha will be holistic and comprehensive.


The CP noted that beyond identifying and investigating the officers directly involved in the alleged misconduct, supervising officers under whose watch the incident occurred will also be queried as part of efforts to ensure accountability and reinforce discipline within the ranks.


He reiterated that the Command will not tolerate any form of unprofessional conduct and assured members of the public that appropriate actions will be taken in accordance with the provisions of the Nigeria Police Force.


The Command remains committed to upholding professionalism, transparency, and the protection of citizens’ rights.
