PRESS RELEASE May 8, 2026 CERTIFIED TRUE COPY OF SUPREME COURT JUDGMENT IN CIRCULATION NOT OFFICIALLY RELEASED, BUT CONTENTS FURTHER AFFIRM ABDULRAHMAN AND ANYANWU’S LEADERSHIP OF THE PDP 1. The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has become aware of the circulation of a purported Certified True Copy (CTC) of the recent Supreme Court judgment relating to matters concerning the party. 2. The PDP wishes to categorically state that the document currently in circulation was not officially released by the Supreme Court. A careful examination of the purported CTC reveals that it falls short of the established requirements for proper certification of official court documents. The pages were neither duly certified, stamped, nor signed by any authorized court officer in accordance with legally recognized procedures. 3. DEPUTY GOVERNOR OF KANO STATE, AMINU ABDUSSALAM GWARZO, HAS RESIGNED FROM HIS POSITION AS DEPUTY GOVERNOR.(PHOTO).

 His spokesperson, Ibrahim Shuaibu, confirmed the development to The PUNCH on Friday, stating that the resignation had been formally communicated.


“Yes, it is true. The deputy governor has resigned from his position,” he said, declining to provide further details on the circumstances surrounding the decision.


Although no official reason has been given for the resignation, the development comes amid recent tensions between the deputy governor and the Kano State House of Assembly.


The Assembly had, in recent days, levelled a series of allegations against Gwarzo, including claims of misconduct and issues bordering on the discharge of his official responsibilities.


The lawmakers had also initiated moves that observers described as a prelude to possible disciplinary action, raising concerns about a looming political crisis within the state executive arm.


The resignation also comes against the backdrop of recent political realignments in Kano following Governor Abba Yusuf’s defection to the All Progressives Congress, a development that has triggered significant shifts within the state’s political and administrative structures.
