 How Bauchi Accountant-General Transferred State Funds to Private Company - Witness   Trial of the Accountant-General of Bauchi State, Sirajo Muhammed Jaja continued on Monday, September 21, 2026 at the Federal High Court in Abuja presided over by Justice Obiora Egwuatu with a witness revealing how Jaja diverted state funds to a private company. Jaja is facing prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC ,  alongside Aliyu Abubakar, Abubakar Muhammed Hafiz, Ari Manga and Muhammed Aminu Bose, for alleged corruption. The defendants are being prosecuted by the EFCC on an amended five-count charge of money laundering, diversion of public funds, and criminal misappropriation of funds to the tune of N1,635,270,350.9 (One Billion, Six Hundred and Thirty-five Million, Two Hundred and Seventy Thousand, Three Hundred and Fifty Naira, Nine Kobo).  El-Rufai’s Mother, Hajiya Umma, Passes Away


According to Daily Trust, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, the mother of Nasir El-Rufai, has passed away.


The exact circumstances surrounding her death were not fully disclosed at the time of reporting, but it was said to have occurred on Friday afternoon. 


Her grandson, Bello El-Rufai, confirmed the news in a statement, expressing the family’s grief and praying for her soul.


He described her as the biological mother of Nasir El-Rufai and appreciated the life she lived, while also asking the public to remember the family in prayers.


Her passing comes amid ongoing legal issues involving Nasir El-Rufai, who is currently in custody. 


The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has charged him with multiple offences, including alleged misappropriation of public funds and money laundering.


He has denied all allegations, and a Federal High Court in Kaduna has scheduled a hearing on his bail application for March 31.
