 The vest did the job - Donald Trump confirms agent injured in D.C. shooting scare Donald Trump has confirmed that a Secret Service agent was injured during a shooting scare at a major press event in Washington, D.C. Speaking after the incident, Trump said the officer was hit at close range but avoided serious harm thanks to protective gear.  “One officer was shot but saved by the fact that he was wearing a very good bulletproof vest,” he said, adding that the agent is now recovering and in good spirits. The situation unfolded during the White House Correspondents' Dinner, where attendees were settling in for the evening when gunfire was heard. Witnesses described a sudden shift from calm to panic, with people quickly moving for cover under tables as security responded.  Environmental Enforcement Update / Lagos Island / 15/03/2026


Operatives of the Waste Investigation, Surveillance and Enforcement (WISE) team of the Lagos Waste Management Authority were on early Sunday morning monitoring and enforcement duty across Balogun, Oke-Arin Street, Davies Street, and Broad Street on Lagos Island to clamp down on illegal cart pushers still operating within the axis.


The operation targeted cart pushers illegally collecting refuse from residents and market traders and disposing of waste indiscriminately along roadsides and medians, an act that undermines the Lagos State Government waste management policy.


LAWMA reiterates its zero-tolerance stance against illegal waste activities and environmental violations, and enforcement operations will continue across identified hotspots to maintain environmental order and sustain a cleaner Lagos.
