 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  GOV. ALIA APPOINTS FIVE-MEMBER BOARD FOR BENUE TELEVISION 


The Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has approved the appointment of members to the Board of the Benue Television Corporation (BTC).


In a statement issued by his Technical Adviser on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communication, Chief Solomon Iorpev, the governor said the appointments take immediate effect.


Rev. Dr. Patrick Alumunku, OON, from Ushongo Local Government Area, will serve as Chairman of the Board. A media professional with a doctorate in Mass Communications, he has 12 years of experience with Vatican Radio and 21 years as Director of Communications at the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja. He currently serves as Executive Director of Catholic Television of Nigeria.


Dr. Thaddeus Hanmakyugh from Kwande LGA was appointed Secretary. He holds a doctorate in Film Production and Media Arts from the University of Abuja and previously served at the National Film Institute, Jos, where he retired.


Other members include Mrs. Jennifer Ejembi from Otukpo LGA, a former Executive Director of the Nigerian Television Authority, Ibadan; Dr. Barnabas Gbam from Logo LGA, former Rector of the NTA College, Jos; and Engr. Sunday Iji from Oju LGA, former Director of Engineering Services at Radio Benue, Makurdi.


Governor Alia charged the new board to leverage their professional experience to strengthen broadcasting standards in the state and promote Benue’s cultural heritage through quality programming.
