 Anambra Upgrades 130 Primary Health Centres, Recruits 1,000 Health Workers ‎ ‎ ‎By Ezumezu Nonyelum ‎ ‎ ‎The Anambra State Government says it has upgraded 130 primary health centres across the state as part of efforts to improve access to quality healthcare. Each facility has been equipped with solar power, a reliable electricity supply and a 30 KVA generator to ensure uninterrupted medical services. ‎ ‎The government said the initiative aligns with its policy of providing at least one fully functional primary health centre in every political ward and one general hospital in each of the state's 21 local government areas. ‎ ‎As part of the healthcare expansion, the Soludo administration has constructed five new general hospitals: Okpoko General Hospital in Ogbaru, Solution Specialist Hospital in Fegge, Onitsha, Solution Rehabilitation Centre in Nibo, Ekwulobia General Hospital in Aguata, and Solution General Hospital in Anaku, Anyamelum.  GOV. ALIA APPOINTS FIVE-MEMBER BOARD FOR BENUE TELEVISION 


The Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has approved the appointment of members to the Board of the Benue Television Corporation (BTC).


In a statement issued by his Technical Adviser on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communication, Chief Solomon Iorpev, the governor said the appointments take immediate effect.


Rev. Dr. Patrick Alumunku, OON, from Ushongo Local Government Area, will serve as Chairman of the Board. A media professional with a doctorate in Mass Communications, he has 12 years of experience with Vatican Radio and 21 years as Director of Communications at the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja. He currently serves as Executive Director of Catholic Television of Nigeria.


Dr. Thaddeus Hanmakyugh from Kwande LGA was appointed Secretary. He holds a doctorate in Film Production and Media Arts from the University of Abuja and previously served at the National Film Institute, Jos, where he retired.


Other members include Mrs. Jennifer Ejembi from Otukpo LGA, a former Executive Director of the Nigerian Television Authority, Ibadan; Dr. Barnabas Gbam from Logo LGA, former Rector of the NTA College, Jos; and Engr. Sunday Iji from Oju LGA, former Director of Engineering Services at Radio Benue, Makurdi.


Governor Alia charged the new board to leverage their professional experience to strengthen broadcasting standards in the state and promote Benue’s cultural heritage through quality programming.
