 AU Commission Chairperson Arrives in Bamako to Revive Dialogue With Mali Mahmoud Ali Youssouf arrived for a two-day official visit, according to an AU statement. He was welcomed by Mali’s Foreign Minister Abdoulaye Diop and is also expected to meet with President Assimi Goïta, it said, Sputnik reported. The visit comes as Mali remains suspended from AU activities since June 2021. The AU has reaffirmed its support for Mali’s sovereignty and territorial integrity while proposing increased assistance to the security sector.

IGP DISU VISITS THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE SERVICES (DSS)


The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, paid a courtesy visit to the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) at the DSS Headquarters in Abuja yesterday. The meeting underscored the enduring partnership between the Nigeria Police Force and the DSS in safeguarding national security.


In his remarks, the IGP described the DSS as an indispensable yet often unseen partner, noting that no major operation can be successfully executed without their involvement. He emphasized the importance of a symbiotic relationship between both agencies, highlighting shared priorities such as election security, counter-terrorism, VIP protection, combating cybercrime and economic sabotage, as well as intelligence sharing. The IGP appealed for joint training initiatives to further strengthen operational capacity and reaffirmed his commitment to deepening collaboration with the DSS to enhance national stability.


Responding, the Director-General of the DSS expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for appointing IGP Disu, citing his wealth of experience and dedication to the Police Force. He also commended the President for supporting the Nigeria Police through the renovation of training institutions nationwide. The DG DSS expressed optimism that the new IGP would bring his experience to bear in advancing the Police Force and improving on the achievements of his predecessors. He assured that the Service will continue to sustain intelligence sharing and joint operations with the Police, describing the partnership as a priceless national asset. 


IGP Disu reiterated his commitment to fostering cooperation and strengthening synergy between the Nigeria Police Force and the DSS, thereby reinforcing their shared resolve to safeguard national security, advance intelligence collaboration, and promote institutional harmony.
