 NPF STRENGTHENS POLICE COMPLAINTS RESPONSE UNIT, ENCOURAGES PUBLIC REPORTING OF MISCONDUCT The Nigeria Police Force has reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, professionalism, and public trust through the continued strengthening of the Police Complaints Response Unit (CRU) as a direct and accessible channel for citizens to report police misconduct and unprofessional conduct. The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc (+), NPM, made this known during the Emergency Conference with Commissioners of Police and members of the press held at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Centre, Force Headquarters, Abuja.  According to the Inspector-General, the Complaints Response Unit remains fully operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing members of the public with a direct platform to report cases of misconduct, abuse of office, extortion, human rights violations, and other unethical behaviour involving police personnel.  IGP SUBMITS FRAMEWORK FOR ESTABLISHMENT OF STATE POLICE


The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has submitted a framework for the establishment of state police in Nigeria, to the Deputy President of the Senate and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Constitution Review, Senator Barau  Jibrin.


IGP Disu was represented by the Chairman of the Nigeria Police committee on the establishment of State Police, Professor Olu Ogunsakin.


This move is part of efforts to decentralize policing in Nigeria and boost national security.


The 75-page framework outlines the proposed structure and operations of state police, including governance and coordination with federal police. 


The IGP says the report provides professional insights and strategic recommendations, shaped by extensive consultations and assessments of operational, legal, and administrative implications as he expresses  hope it will contribute to informed decisions on national security.


The Deputy  President of the Senate in response says the Senate Committee will study the proposed framework as part of the ongoing review of the 1999 Constitution.


The creation of State Police he adds  aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's commitment to enhance security in the country.
