Iran hit by airstrikes as it carries out new attacks on Israel and U.S bases

Iran launched a fresh wave of attacks on Thursday, targeting Israel, U.S. bases, and regional neighbors, while vowing retaliation after the U.S. sank an Iranian warship and issuing inflammatory calls for violence against former President Trump. The escalation comes as Israel has continued airstrikes inside Iran for a sixth consecutive day.

The conflict has expanded beyond the Gulf, with Azerbaijan reporting a drone strike that it attributed to Iran, although Tehran denied involvement. The U.S. recently sank an Iranian frigate off Sri Lanka, prompting Tehran to accuse Washington of committing an “atrocity at sea.” Iran’s attacks have disrupted oil shipments, threatened international travel, and hit neighboring countries, including the UAE, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. In Abu Dhabi, a drone near a U.S. airbase injured six people, while Qatar evacuated residents near the U.S. Embassy ahead of a missile attack. Israel also struck Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, killing at least eight people, and conducted additional strikes on Iran targeting ballistic missile sites and military infrastructure.

Since the conflict began, more than 1,200 people have died in Iran, over 70 in Lebanon, and about a dozen in Israel, with six U.S. troops killed. Iranian authorities have defended their strikes and condemned U.S. actions, while the region faces growing instability in oil and gas supply, global shipping, and civilian safety.
