 Zango Kataf, Jaba PDP Committees Hold Reconciliation Meeting Ahead Of 2027 Elections The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Working Committees in Zango Kataf and Jaba Local Government Areas have held a strategic reconciliation meeting aimed at strengthening party unity and positioning the party for success in the 2027 general elections. The meeting, held on Friday, July 31, 2026, in Jaba Local Government Area, was jointly chaired by the PDP Chairmen of Jaba and Zango Kataf LGAs, Sabastine David Bijiri and Martins Markus Koyah. It brought together party executives, stakeholders, ward officials, elders, youth and women leaders, as well as members from both local government areas. Speaking at the meeting, the Zango Kataf PDP Chairman commended party leaders and members for supporting the zoning of the party’s House of Representatives ticket to Zango Kataf Local Government Area.  Iran says it will skip World Cup in United States due to US attacks, sports minister says

  

 With the World Cup just three months away, Iranian officials announced that their national team will not participate in the tournament.

Iran’s sports minister, Ahmad Donyamali, said the team cannot compete because of U.S. attacks. He told Iranian state television, “Due to the wicked acts they have done against Iran – they have imposed two wars on us over just eight or nine months and have killed and martyred thousands of our people – definitely it’s not possible for us to take part in the World Cup.” Earlier, Mehdi Taj, head of Iran’s Football Federation, also questioned whether the team would attend.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino spoke with President Donald Trump earlier this week and confirmed that the Iranian team is welcome to compete. Iran has been drawn into Group G and is scheduled to play New Zealand and Belgium in Los Angeles on June 15 and 21, followed by a match against Egypt in Seattle on June 26. The tournament, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, runs from June 11 through July 19.
