Iran’s Revolutionary Guards warned Sunday that the country will fully close the strategic Strait of Hormuz if U.S. President Trump follows through on threats to strike Iranian energy facilities.
Trump had issued a warning Saturday that he would “obliterate” Iran’s power plants unless Tehran reopened the Strait within 48 hours, signaling a major escalation just a day after mentioning plans to “wind down” the conflict, now entering its fourth week. The Revolutionary Guards also said that any companies with U.S. ownership would face “complete destruction” if Iranian energy sites were attacked, and energy facilities in countries hosting U.S. bases would be considered legitimate targets.
