PRESS STATEMENT ON MY AMBASSADORIAL POSTING.  It gives me pleasure to announce the fact that Mr. President has graciously approved my posting as Nigeria's Ambassador-Designate to South Africa.    This came a few days after the initial posting to Germany was announced and after I made a formal representation to the then Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, that I was not comfortable with Germany for a number of personal reasons and given the fact that I had lived in Europe most of my life I would prefer to go to South Africa which is a country that I had never been to and for which I have so much interest.  I also expressed the fact that I would rather serve in a country that shares some of my convictions, beilefs and values when it comes to world affairs, that has the biggest economy in Africa, that has closer ties to Nigeria and that is more proximate to my political thinking when it comes to foreign affairs and a pan African vision.  I t...

Jay-Z opens up about anger and heartbreak after sexual assault lawsuit dismissal

Jay-Z has broken his silence regarding the sexual assault lawsuit filed against him in December 2024, which was dismissed two months later. The hip-hop mogul, whose real name is Shawn Carter, described the case as emotionally devastating, leaving him both “heartbroken” and “angry,” and explained why he refused to accept a settlement. Reflecting on the period when he and Sean “Diddy” Combs were named in the civil suit, the 56-year-old said the ordeal triggered a level of misery he hadn’t experienced in years, calling the situation “really hard” and noting the intensity of his anger.

Carter expressed confidence throughout the legal battle that the claims were unfounded. The lawsuit was withdrawn after investigators found multiple inconsistencies in the accuser’s story, including conflicting testimonies and evidence placing Carter and Combs elsewhere during the alleged incident. Carter had previously called the allegations “idiotic” and “heinous in nature” and emphasized he would not be intimidated. After the civil suit was dismissed with prejudice, he filed a defamation lawsuit against the accuser and her attorneys, accusing them of acting out of greed and damaging his reputation. Carter said the experience was deeply traumatic for both him and his family, adding, “The trauma that my wife, my children, my loved ones and I have endured can never be dismissed.”
