Josh Duhamel recently appeared on Megyn Kelly’s SiriusXM show, where he explained his choice to avoid discussing politics publicly.
The Transformers actor said he made a “business decision” to keep his views private, noting that while he holds strong opinions, he doesn’t want to alienate half of his audience.
Duhamel emphasized that having a platform doesn’t entitle celebrities to “preach to everybody,” and suggested that entertainers should focus on their craft rather than political commentary.
He further questioned why celebrities risk their careers by making divisive statements, arguing that success in Hollywood depends on appealing to a broad audience.
Duhamel described himself as a “court jester,” saying his role is to entertain through movies and television, not to deliver political messages.
He added that if he ever wanted to share his political beliefs in a serious way, he would run for office though he made clear that he has no intention of doing so.
Despite his insistence on staying neutral, some observers pointed out that appearing on Kelly’s show carried political undertones, given her reputation as a conservative commentator.
Social media users noted that Duhamel’s choice of platform raised questions about his own views, especially since he previously endorsed Republican Doug Burgum during the 2024 presidential race.
Outside of politics, Duhamel continues to build his acting career, most recently starring in Netflix’s Ransom Canyon, which has been renewed for a second season.
