Veteran Journalist and Former Nigerian Ambassador Dele Cole Dies at 86

Prominent Nigerian diplomat and veteran media executive Ambassador Dele Cole has passed away at the age of 86. Family sources confirmed that the elder statesman died on Thursday morning.

A Distinguished Career in Journalism

Cole built an influential career that bridged the worlds of media and public service. He notably served as the Managing Director of the Daily Times, steering one of Nigeria's most historical and prominent national newspapers at the height of its reach.

Diplomatic Engagements in South America

Beyond his contributions to Nigerian journalism, Cole was appointed by the federal government to serve as Nigeria's ambassador to two major South American nations, Argentina and Brazil. His diplomatic postings reflected the high regard he commanded within Nigerian foreign affairs and governance.

His passing marks the loss of a key figure who made significant contributions to both the freedom of the press and the country's international relations.
