 DELTA STATE POLICE COMMAND PRESS RELEASE POLICE ARREST TWO SUSPECTED CRIMINALS, RECOVER TWO BERETTA PISTOLS, NINE ROUNDS OF LIVE AMMUNITION, SUSPECTED COCAINE, AND MERCEDES-BENZ SUV The Delta State Police Command has recorded another significant operational success with the arrest of two suspected criminals and the recovery of firearms, live ammunition, suspected cocaine, and other incriminating exhibits during a stop-and-search operation carried out by operatives of the Safer Highway Patrol along the Agbarho–Warri Road on 25 July 2026. The suspects, Omini Ezeri (46) and Chinedum Wagbara (42), both residents of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, were intercepted while travelling in a grey Mercedes-Benz ML SUV with registration number AAA 604 JZ. During preliminary interrogation, a third occupant of the vehicle, God Knows Ifreke, suddenly took to his heels and escaped into a nearby swamp.  Lagos State Hosts Reception in Honour of Student-Athletes’ Historic Feat at World School Games and African Youth Games


Lagos State Government today hosted a special reception at the Lagos State House, Marina in honour of its outstanding student-athletes who recorded remarkable achievements at the World School Games and African Youth Games, bringing pride and global recognition to the state and Nigeria at large.


In his opening remarks, the Director General,  Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr  Lekan Fatodu, commended the athletes for their resilience, discipline, and dedication. He noted that their achievements reflect the success of ongoing efforts to develop grassroots sports and position Lagos as a hub for sporting excellence.


Speaking at the event, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu praised the athletes for their outstanding performance, describing their success as a proud moment for Lagos State. He emphasized that their historic feat is a testament to hard work, determination, and the immense potential of young people in the state.


The Governor reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to continued investment in youth development, sports infrastructure, and strategic partnerships that will create more opportunities for young talents to excel on the global stage.


The reception concluded with the presentation of commendations, as Lagos State celebrated its young champions whose achievements will continue to inspire future generations.
